Digital Civilization Studies

Examining how artificial intelligence and digital systems reshape knowledge and society.

Overview

Digital Civilization Studies

This ongoing theme studies the emergence of an algorithmic civilisation: a world in which platforms, models and data infrastructures increasingly mediate what people know, believe and do. It asks who holds epistemic power in such a world, what happens to human agency, and how societies in the Global South can avoid becoming merely dependent consumers.

Published work includes the research report on the Architecture of Algorithmic Civilization and the study of the Youth Pledge, Generation Z and algorithmic democracy. The theme connects to the Civilization Consciousness Explorer and Generation Consciousness Trajectory tools in the AI Laboratory, and to the Research Themes page.
