Six ways to be recognized, and what each one means

The Academy issues six certificate types. The distinction between them is the scope of what was completed, not a hierarchy of prestige.

A Course Certificate recognizes completion of a single course, including its assessed work. It is the appropriate record for a learner who needed one specific competency.

A Professional Certificate recognizes completion of a professional track, meaning several related courses plus a final applied project. This is the credential most working professionals should aim for, because it certifies an applied capability rather than exposure to material.

A Pathway Certificate recognizes completion of a full learning pathway across a subject area, which is broader than a professional track and takes considerably longer.

An Executive Certificate recognizes completion of an executive education program. These programs are compressed and decision-focused, and the assessed component is typically a decision document rather than an examination. Details are on the executive programs page.

A Masterclass Certificate recognizes participation in a masterclass, which is short, intensive, and narrow by design.

What these certificates are not

KBA13 Academy is not a formal degree-granting university. Certificates recognize learning, not accreditation. They confer no academic credit, no SKS, no ECTS, and no degree, and they are not issued under any government accreditation framework.

This is stated first rather than buried, because the value of a credential depends entirely on the receiving party understanding what it represents. A certificate presented as more than it is damages the holder when the claim is examined.

What a certificate from this Academy does represent is a documented, verifiable record that a named person completed a defined body of learning and passed assessed work against a published standard. For many professional purposes that is precisely what is needed. For formal academic or regulatory purposes it is not sufficient, and anyone relying on it for such a purpose should confirm acceptance with the receiving institution before proceeding.

Assessment behind the certificate

A certificate that recorded attendance would be worthless, so none of these do.

Each credential requires assessed work appropriate to its scope. Course certificates require the course’s own assessment. Professional and pathway certificates require a final applied project on a genuine task, documented sufficiently for a reviewer to follow the reasoning. Executive certificates require a decision document addressing a real question in the learner’s own organization.

Marking weighs reasoning and verification above polish. Across the Academy, work that reaches a cautious conclusion with traceable evidence scores higher than confident work the evidence does not support. Where AI has assisted, the learner documents what the tool contributed, what was verified, and what was rejected. All assessment is subject to human academic review. No certificate is generated automatically, and this is a permanent structural condition rather than a temporary safeguard.

Verification

Every certificate carries a unique certificate number and a verification URL so that an employer, university, or client can confirm it independently rather than relying on a document that could be edited.

Each certificate also records the participant name, the program or course title, the pathway code, the completion date, and the learning hours, together with an explicit statement that the credential is non-degree professional learning. That statement appears on the certificate itself, not only in accompanying terms, so the document cannot be presented as something it is not.

Certificates are not issued before verification logic is implemented and tested. An unresolvable verification link would be worse than none, because it invites reliance the infrastructure cannot support.

Integrity conditions

Certification requires an academic-integrity agreement and, where relevant, a responsible-use acknowledgement. An unresolved integrity issue blocks issue regardless of academic performance.

Integrity here has a specific meaning beyond plagiarism. Submitting AI-generated analysis as verified work is an integrity failure even when the content happens to be correct, because the claim being made about the work is false. Learners are taught this distinction directly rather than left to infer it.

How to work towards one

Choose the credential from the work you want to be able to do, then work backwards to courses. The course catalog lists what is available now, with difficulty, duration, language, and certificate type as filters.
