A transparent six-stage process
Stage 02
Design
The design stage links the question to a framework and method, specifies the evidence needed and how it will be gathered, and anticipates ethical issues. Designs are recorded so that others can evaluate them.
Methods vary by project, but every approved study must make its question, evidence, analysis, limitations and review pathway clear. This stage is documented in the study so that readers and reviewers can follow the reasoning from start to finish.
