Digital Civilization
How digital platforms and algorithms reshape consciousness, politics, culture and the meaning of being human.
Overview
Scope of the domain
The Digital Civilization domain asks what kind of civilisation is emerging as platforms, algorithms and AI become the medium through which people learn, believe and act. Research traces the shift from print and broadcast consciousness to algorithmic and synthetic consciousness, and examines what this means for democracy, religion and education.
This domain hosts some of KBA13 Academy’s flagship work, including the report on the Architecture of Algorithmic Civilization and the study of the Youth Pledge and Generation Z. It connects to the AI Laboratory’s civilisation and generation-consciousness explorers and to the Knowledge Engine.
