Leadership
Leadership, institutions and succession: how individuals and elites shape organisations and states.
Overview
Scope of the domain
The Leadership domain studies how authority is exercised, transferred and contested, from university leadership to national politics. Research looks at elite generations, political dynasties, technocrats and populists, and at the institutional designs that make leadership accountable.
The domain draws on biography, institutional analysis and comparative politics, and on practical experience in academic leadership. It supports leadership education across KBA13 Academy programmes and connects to analytic tools that help users examine succession risk and decision-making under pressure.
