Research Domain 10 of 16
Knowledge Systems
How knowledge is produced, organised, validated and reused, by people, institutions and machines.
Overview
Scope of the domain
This domain studies the architecture of knowledge itself: how questions become evidence, how evidence becomes publications, and how publications become reusable learning and policy resources. It includes epistemology, knowledge management, libraries and archives, and the design of AI-assisted knowledge systems.
The domain underpins the KBA13 Academy platform. The Seven-Stage Knowledge Production Framework, the Fricatifization Paradigm and the design of the Research Repository all come from this work. Researchers here collaborate with the Digital Library, the Arsip & Pustaka collection and the Knowledge Engine.
Key research questions
- How can knowledge production be made transparent and testable?
- How should archives and libraries be connected to AI discovery?
- What makes a research output genuinely reusable?
- How do epistemic traditions differ across civilisations?
