Institutional Research

Program 06 of 7

Institutional Research

Evidence for organisational learning, quality assurance and development.

Overview

Institutional Research

Institutional Research helps organisations understand themselves: their performance, their people, their processes and their position relative to peers. For universities this includes accreditation evidence, research productivity, curriculum review and graduate outcomes.

The programme draws on the Higher Education domain’s work on transparent evaluation. It emphasises indicators that are meaningful rather than merely measurable, and analysis that leads to decisions rather than reports that sit on shelves.

Typical questions

  • How are we performing against our mission?
  • Where are the bottlenecks in research and teaching?
  • How do we compare with relevant peers?
  • Which changes would have the greatest effect?

Approach

  • Indicator design
  • Data audit and analysis
  • Benchmarking
  • Action planning
